Dear Morgan’s Point Residents:
Effective today, Friday, March 13th, Morgan’s Point Mayor Michel Bechtel – in coordination with neighboring municipalities – has declared a local State of Disaster for public health emergency for the City of Morgan’s Point. The declaration shall continue for a period of not more than seven days from the date of declaration unless continued or renewed by the City Council of the City of Morgan’s Point, Texas. This declaration allows the City to take measures that further reduce the risk of the COVID-19 virus spreading in our area. Doing so allows our health systems to sustain and meet the needs of our region, without overwhelming them. As of Friday, March 13th there have not been any presumptive or positive cases of COVID-19 within the city limits of Morgan’s Point. Mayor Bechtel and city staff will continue to monitor updates from Harris County Public Health, the Texas Department of State Health Services and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. If you have general questions about COVID-19, Harris County Public Health has established a Call Center to answer questions about COVID-19 at 713-634-1110 from 9am – 7pm, 7 days a week. The full text of the Declaration of Local Disaster is attached. Updates will be provided through the City’s website and social media outlets.
City Hall, Public Works and the Police Department will operate as normal. All city services will continue as scheduled.
Check back for further updates.
